Premium Horse Hair Hat Band from the Montana State Prison

This is a unique form of horse hair braiding, not commonly known, Horse Hair Hitching developed nearly 150 years ago.  Add some authentic western flair to your hat collection with this premium horse hair hat band. It's a great conversation starter and a must-have for anyone who loves Western Americana.  You will notice in the photos that the inmate who crafted this piece used a bread tie to protect the ends of the horse hair.  You can tell the artist who created this piece was very skilled because the geometric pattern on the band is very unique in its own right.  I am not allowed to give you his name as he wants to remain anonymous.  This skill has only been passed down from inmate to inmate. They refused to teach the women at the Montana Women's Prison how to do this. They did not want to release their livelihood to anyone outside of the mens prison.  I know this because I was one of the staff members who tried to organize this.
